Harry Kane Scores Against Former Club as Bayern Munich Thrash Spurs 4-0 in Pre-Season Clash

Bayern Munich delivered a commanding performance in their latest pre-season friendly, cruising to a 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, with former Spurs star Harry Kane opening the scoring.

Kane Breaks Through Against Former Club

Playing against the club where he became a legend, Harry Kane found the net just 12 minutes into the match. The England captain calmly finished inside the penalty area to give Bayern an early lead. Kane remains Tottenham’s all-time top scorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances before making his high-profile move to Germany in 2023.

Missed Penalty Follows Early Goal

Just two minutes after scoring, Kane had an opportunity to double the lead from the penalty spot. The chance came after Joao Palhinha — who recently joined Spurs on loan from Bayern — gave away a foul in the box. However, Kane slipped during his run-up and sent the penalty over the crossbar. It was his first missed spot-kick since the 2022 World Cup quarter-final against France.

Bayern Dominates Second Half

After halftime, Kingsley Coman made it 2-0 with a stunning curling effort from the edge of the box in the 61st minute. Late in the match, Bayern’s young talents Lennart Karl and Jonah Kusi-Asare added two more goals to seal a comprehensive 4-0 win.

Focus Shifts to UEFA Super Cup

This match marked Bayern’s final test ahead of their UEFA Super Cup showdown against Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain next Wednesday. With this performance, the Europa League champions appear well-prepared for the European clash.

Mixed Pre-Season for Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur, under new manager Thomas Frank, have had a varied pre-season. They picked up a notable win over Arsenal and also defeated Reading, but were held to draws by Newcastle, Luton Town, and Wycombe Wanderers. The heavy defeat to Bayern will offer key takeaways as they gear up for the upcoming season.
