KP Government Announces One-Month Tax Relief for Transport Sector

 April 11, 2026

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced a one-month waiver of schedule tax and stand tax for the transport sector as part of efforts to provide relief to commuters and reduce passenger fares.

Decision taken in official meeting

The decision was made during a video-link meeting chaired by the Commissioner Peshawar Division and Chairman of the Regional Transport Authority, Riaz Khan Mehsud.

Tax waiver details

Under the new directive, both schedule tax and stand tax have been suspended for one month across all districts of the province. Transport operators have been instructed to pass on the full benefit of this relief to passengers by reducing fares accordingly.

Monitoring of fares

Authorities have announced strict monitoring to ensure implementation of reduced fares. Assistant commissioners will be deployed in all districts to inspect transport stands and highways, while deputy commissioners will oversee field operations.

Fare transparency measures

Transporters have also been directed to display official government-approved fare lists prominently in all vehicles so that passengers can easily check rates.

Objective of the initiative

Officials said the step aims to ensure uniform fare reductions across the province and provide direct financial relief to the public, especially daily commuters.

Conclusion

The KP government has emphasized strict enforcement of the decision to ensure that the benefits of the tax relief reach passengers without delay.
