Kyrie Irving Names Kevin Durant as His Greatest Teammate
August 14, 2025 –
NBA star Kyrie Irving has revealed that Kevin Durant is his best teammate, praising Durant’s talent and the unique experience of sharing the court with him.
Irving, who has played alongside legends like LeBron James and Luka Doncic, highlighted his time with Durant during their stint together on the Brooklyn Nets from 2019 to 2023.
“I will say this: the 7-Eleven duo of me and KD will never be topped in terms of just being on a court with somebody that special,” Irving said during a live stream. “I’ve played with a lot of great players, but playing with KD, it was OD. He’s one of the best of all time.”
Despite their immense talent, the Durant-Irving-Harden era in Brooklyn faced challenges. Injuries, controversies, and team issues prevented the trio from reaching their full potential.
Before joining Durant in Brooklyn, Irving won an NBA championship with LeBron James in Cleveland in 2016. More recently, he teamed up with Luka Doncic to lead the Dallas Mavericks to the 2024 NBA Finals, the franchise’s first Finals appearance since 2011.
