Indonesia Offers to Deploy Peacekeepers for Gaza Stability
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has announced that Indonesia is ready to provide more than 20,000 peacekeepers to the Gaza Strip if called upon by the United Nations Security Council or the General Assembly. The statement was made during his recent address at the UN General Assembly in New York.
President Subianto highlighted Indonesia’s strong track record as one of the largest contributors to UN peacekeeping missions, reaffirming the country’s commitment to supporting international peace and stability. He emphasized that Indonesia stands prepared to send peacekeepers not only to Gaza but also to other regions where the UN may require assistance.
The Indonesian leader also reiterated his country’s long-standing support for the establishment of a peaceful and independent Palestinian state, while stressing that lasting peace can only be achieved through mutual security and recognition for both sides.
Meanwhile, reports from US media suggest that Washington is encouraging Arab and Muslim-majority nations to participate in peacekeeping initiatives for Gaza. According to officials, the aim is to create conditions that would support stability, reconstruction, and the transfer of governance in Palestine.
Indonesia’s pledge underscores its growing role in international peace efforts and signals its readiness to contribute significantly to future UN-led missions.
