Lewandowski set to miss Barcelona’s La Liga opener

Lewandowski Likely to Miss Barcelona’s La Liga Opener Against Mallorca

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is expected to be without star striker Robert Lewandowski for the team’s La Liga opener against Mallorca on Saturday, February 8, 2026, at Son Moix.

Lewandowski, who is dealing with a hamstring injury in his left leg, trained separately from the squad on Friday at the Joan Gamper Sports City, before moving to individual gym work. He had also missed last Sunday’s 5-0 win over Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy.

With the Polish forward sidelined, Ferran Torres is tipped to lead the attack — unless Marcus Rashford’s registration with LaLiga is finalised in time.

Barcelona will also be without goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, who is recovering from a long-term back injury, and midfielder Marc Bernal, who is nearing a return from a serious knee problem suffered last season and is expected to be back in early September.

Meanwhile, the club is awaiting official confirmation of goalkeeper Joan Garcia’s registration. LaLiga’s Medical Commission ruled earlier this week that Ter Stegen’s injury qualifies as long-term, freeing up part of his wage budget for Garcia’s inclusion.
