Liverpool Secure Hugo Ekitike in £79 Million Transfer from Frankfurt

LIVERPOOL, July 22 — Liverpool FC have reached a major agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for the signing of French striker Hugo Ekitike, in a high-profile deal that could rise to £79 million including add-ons.

The 23-year-old is scheduled to undergo a medical in the UK on Tuesday, with all terms agreed ahead of his expected unveiling at Anfield. Ekitike will sign a six-year contract with the Premier League giants and is set to join Liverpool’s pre-season Asia tour later this week.

🔴 Transfer Details

  • Base Fee: £69 million

  • Add-ons: £10 million

  • Total Potential Cost: £79 million

  • Contract Length: 6 years

  • Reported Wages: Between £10–12 million gross annually

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the deal signals Liverpool’s aggressive summer transfer push, having now spent over £250 million in the current window.

🔥 Rising Star

Ekitike enjoyed a standout season in Germany, scoring 15 goals in 31 appearances, helping Frankfurt finish third in the Bundesliga. His pace, positioning, and finishing ability have made him one of Europe’s most sought-after young strikers.

Liverpool acted swiftly after Newcastle United’s £70 million bid was turned down earlier this month. The Reds have also been linked with Alexander Isak, another highly rated forward currently at Newcastle.

💰 Liverpool’s Summer Spending Soars

With the arrival of Hugo Ekitike, Liverpool’s spending spree includes:

  • Florian Wirtz – £116 million (potential British record)

  • Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong – Combined £70 million

  • Hugo Ekitike – Up to £79 million

Total estimated spend: Over £250 million

✍️ What’s Next for Liverpool?

Ekitike’s addition brings more firepower to Arne Slot’s frontline, complementing stars like Mohamed Salah and Darwin Núñez. With youth and versatility on his side, Ekitike could prove to be a vital asset in Liverpool’s domestic and European campaigns.
