Pilgrims to Save Up to Rs. 50,000 Thanks to Saudi Travel Subsidy Fund
ISLAMABAD – In a major relief for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, Saudi Arabia’s travel and hospitality sector has introduced a $40 million subsidy fund (approximately Rs. 15 billion) aimed at significantly reducing pilgrimage travel costs.
According to Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, the initiative could help pilgrims save up to Rs. 50,000 on travel-related expenses. He applauded the move, calling it a welcomed step towards making religious journeys more accessible for Pakistani citizens.
💸 Cost Reduction to Benefit Thousands
The fund, backed by major Saudi travel and accommodation companies, is expected to ease financial pressure for thousands of people performing Hajj and Umrah in the coming seasons.
“This initiative will directly benefit low- and middle-income pilgrims who often struggle with rising travel costs,” said Minister Yousuf during an official ceremony.
🕋 New Committee Formed to Investigate Missing Pilgrims
On the occasion, the Minister also addressed the recent controversy surrounding the disappearance of 63,000 Hajj pilgrims. He confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has dismissed the initial investigation report and ordered the formation of a new inquiry committee to thoroughly probe the matter.

To further promote religious unity, Minister Yousuf announced that the Ministry of Religious Affairs will soon release an official prayer calendar for Islamabad. Additionally, he revealed plans to launch group travel packages for pilgrims visiting Iran, Iraq, and Syria, modeled after the successful Hajj and Umrah arrangements.
