Malaysia to Import $200 Million Worth of Meat from Pakistan

In a major boost to Pakistan’s export sector, Malaysia has agreed to import $200 million worth of meat from Pakistan. The decision marks a significant milestone in the growing economic partnership between the two countries.
The understanding was reached during a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya.
Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed Malaysia’s decision to expand meat imports and assured full compliance with all quality, safety, and halal certification standards.
Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation
During the talks, both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in defence, agriculture, information technology, and emerging technologies. Calling the discussions “productive,” Prime Minister Shehbaz said that Pakistan and Malaysia “converge on almost all key issues” and share a vision for sustainable development.
He added that Pakistan seeks to learn from Malaysia’s success in technology, IT, and artificial intelligence, while pursuing joint ventures and mutually beneficial projects.
New MoUs Signed
The two governments also signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to expand collaboration in:

Tourism

Halal certification

Anti-corruption efforts

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
These agreements are expected to open a new chapter in Pakistan–Malaysia relations, enhancing trade, investment, and people-to-people links.
Mutual Respect and Shared Vision
Prime Minister Shehbaz praised Anwar Ibrahim’s visionary leadership, describing the Urdu translation of his book “Script” as a model for sustainability and innovation.
He emphasized that Pakistan, endowed with rich natural resources and talented youth, looks forward to building a strong, long-term partnership with Malaysia for shared prosperity.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in his remarks, reaffirmed the historic friendship between the two nations and highlighted that economic cooperation has “always been at the forefront” of bilateral ties.
He confirmed that Malaysia has already increased imports of Pakistani rice and will now begin beef imports from Pakistan, while expanding collaboration in advanced technologies.
Anwar also appreciated Pakistan’s principled stance on Palestine, noting that both countries share a common vision for peace and stability in the region.
