Arshad Nadeem Reaches Javelin Final at World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025

Tokyo, Japan – Pakistan’s star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has qualified for the men’s javelin final at the World Athletics Championships 2025 in Tokyo, keeping his medal hopes alive.

Competing at the iconic Japan National Stadium, Nadeem secured his place with a throw of 85.28m on his third attempt, narrowly crossing the qualifying mark and earning a spot among the world’s top 12.


Top Performers in Qualification

  • Anderson Peters (Grenada) dominated the qualification round with a massive throw of 89.53m, the best performance of the day.

  • Julius Yego (Kenya), the 2015 world champion, sealed his qualification on his very first throw, reaching 85.96m.

  • Curtis Thompson (USA) also progressed to the final with a strong effort of 84.72m.

The automatic qualification standard was set at 84.50m. Athletes who didn’t achieve this distance were still eligible to qualify by ranking among the top 12 performers overall.
