Mizuki Hiruta Set for Fifth WBO Title Defense Against Naomy Cardenas in California

Undefeated Japanese boxing star Mizuki Hiruta is being hailed as the fighter to beat in the junior bantamweight division, according to her co-trainer Edgar Jasso. Hiruta will put her WBO 115lbs title on the line this Friday in a 10-round showdown against Naomy Cardenas Gomez at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California.

This will be Hiruta’s fifth title defense, her third fight in 2025, and her third bout in the United States. The 29-year-old from Tokyo has relocated to Los Angeles, training under Manny Robles and Edgar Jasso.

Trainer’s Praise

“I think she’s the one to beat,” Jasso said. “You have to respect all champions, but she stands out as the fighter everyone is chasing.”

Known for her bright pink hair and eye-catching ring outfits inspired by Japanese pop culture, Hiruta is not just a skilled fighter — she’s also a marketable personality in the sport.

The Challenger – Naomy Cardenas

Cardenas, 26 and representing Mexico, enters the fight with a perfect record of 9-0 (2 KOs). She earned her title shot after a split-decision win over Bree Howling. A relentless pressure fighter, Cardenas uses nonstop aggression to wear down her opponents.

Fighting Style & Strengths

Jasso believes Hiruta’s growth as a fighter makes her dangerous in multiple ways.
“She can outbox opponents with skill or stand and trade punches when needed. She’s becoming a complete, well-rounded fighter,” he explained.

With two undefeated champions going head-to-head, this fight promises high drama, technical skill, and fireworks in the ring. Fans can expect an action-packed title clash as Hiruta looks to extend her unbeaten record to 9-0 and solidify her dominance in the division.
