Murree Closes Schools Due to Heavy Rains

Murree Schools Closed for Two Days Due to Heavy Rainfall and Flooding

Authorities in Murree have announced the closure of schools for two days due to heavy rainfall in the region. As per the CEO of the District Education Authority, all educational institutions will remain closed on Tuesday, August 19, and Wednesday, August 20.

Overflowing Rivers and Landslides

The recent downpour has caused rivers and canals in Murree to overflow, leading to water accumulation in key areas like Kahuta GPO Chowk and Mall Road. Additionally, landslides in Galiyat have forced the closure of the main highway connecting Murree and Abbottabad, adding to the ongoing challenges.

Cloudburst Warning and Safety Alerts

Officials have issued a warning about a potential cloudburst in the region. The local administration has urged both residents and tourists to exercise extreme caution. The Deputy Commissioner of Murree has specifically advised the public to stay away from rivers and canals, as heavy rainfall is expected to persist for the next 24 to 48 hours.

Public Safety and Updates

The situation remains critical, and authorities are advising the public to stay informed through weather alerts and follow all safety guidelines. Citizens are encouraged to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this period of intense weather conditions.
