Manchester United CEO Confident Club Can Win Premier League by 2028

Manchester United’s chief executive, Omar Berrada, has expressed strong optimism that the club can clinch the Premier League title by 2028, despite a difficult recent season.

Aiming High After a Challenging Season

Last season saw United finish 15th—their worst league performance in over 50 years. However, Berrada remains hopeful and believes the team can bounce back to challenge for the title within a few years.

In an interview with the United We Stand fanzine, Berrada said, “Can the team win the Premier League by 2028? Of course. We just finished 15th, and it seems impossible, but why not aim for it? Why not do everything in our power?”

Project 150: A Vision for Success

The goal to win a 21st men’s league title by the club’s 150th anniversary in 2028 is part of Berrada’s ambitious “Project 150” strategy, which aims to rebuild the team and regain its former glory.

Despite last season’s struggles, United are confident the worst is behind them. Without the added pressure of European football next term, Berrada expects significant improvements. He also pointed to impressive turnarounds by other clubs, such as Leicester City’s rise from 14th to Premier League champions and Nottingham Forest’s climb from 17th to 7th in recent seasons.

New Signing Matheus Cunha: A Potential Star

Berrada praised new signing Matheus Cunha, comparing the Brazil forward’s style and flair to the legendary Eric Cantona, saying Cunha has “a bit of a swagger” that could excite United fans.

While Cunha alone won’t transform the squad, Berrada believes the club’s summer transfer plans will build a strong supporting cast around him.

Trust in Manager Ruben Amorim

Despite a tough first half-season under new manager Ruben Amorim, Berrada remains confident in the coach’s vision. He described Amorim’s appointment as a long-term investment, emphasizing the need to allow time for the manager to adapt to the squad, club culture, and Premier League.

“We don’t regret bringing Ruben in mid-season,” Berrada said. “We have a clear roadmap, and the challenges faced will provide valuable lessons for next season.”

Focus on Playing Style and Identity

Berrada urged fans and analysts to look beyond formations and results, encouraging them to appreciate the style of play Amorim is building.

“I firmly believe in Ruben and what he’s trying to do,” Berrada added. “People should focus on the identity and style of play he wants to implement.”

Looking Ahead

With a renewed focus on strategic growth and development, Manchester United aims to return to the top of English football, setting their sights on a Premier League title win by 2028.

Cricket West Indies Calls Emergency Meeting to Revive Test Cricket Legacy Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced an emergency strategic intervention following a challenging Test series against Australia, aimed at revitalizing the team’s long-format performance. In response to the recent series defeat, CWI President Kishore Shallow has convened a special meeting of the Cricket Strategy and Officiating Committee. To provide expert insight and guidance, he has invited three of the region’s most celebrated cricket legends—Sir Clive Lloyd, Sir Vivian Richards, and Brian Lara—to join the discussions. These icons will collaborate with existing committee members Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Desmond Haynes, and Ian Bradshaw. “To strengthen the discussions, I have extended invitations to three of our greatest batsmen ever: Sir Clive Lloyd, Sir Vivian Richards, and Brian Lara,” Shallow said in a recent statement. Together, the trio brings decades of experience and nearly 28,000 Test runs. Their involvement is intended to offer both inspiration and practical solutions to help guide the next chapter of West Indies cricket. “This engagement is not ceremonial. These are men who helped define our golden eras,” Shallow explained. “Their perspectives will be invaluable as we shape the next phase of our cricket development. We intend for this gathering to result in tangible, actionable recommendations.” While the recent series outcome has prompted reflection within the cricketing community, CWI emphasized the importance of maintaining a forward-looking approach. The board remains committed to long-term planning and rebuilding a strong, competitive Test team. West Indies cricket has seen significant success in the T20 format, but the rise of shorter formats has presented challenges for the traditional Test arena. CWI hopes that renewed focus and expert input will help bridge this gap and encourage greater interest and preparation for red-ball cricket. The strategic meeting is expected to produce a roadmap focused on resilience, performance development, and fostering a renewed culture of excellence. With leadership from some of the game’s greatest Caribbean players, West Indies cricket aims to build a future rooted in its proud and storied legacy
