Orioles Edge Red Sox 4-3 in Extra Innings Thriller at Fenway Park

BOSTON – Samuel Basallo drove in the decisive run on a groundout in the 11th inning as the Baltimore Orioles held on for a 4-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night, completing a two-game sweep at Fenway Park.

The Orioles looked set for a comfortable win after building a two-run lead, but Boston’s Nathaniel Lowe tied the game with a dramatic two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth, forcing extra innings.

Despite the late scare, Baltimore extended their winning streak to three games and secured their sixth win in the last seven contests.

Boston had multiple chances to walk it off, loading the bases in the 10th before a double play ended the inning. In the 11th, the Red Sox again had a runner on third with just one out but failed to capitalize, finishing 0-for-13 with runners in scoring position and leaving 13 runners stranded.

Key Performances:

  • Samuel Basallo delivered the go-ahead RBI in the 11th.

  • Ryan Mountcastle contributed with an RBI single.

  • Colton Cowser doubled in a run during Baltimore’s three-run fifth inning.

  • Yennier Cano (2-6) earned the win, while Corbin Martin recorded his second save.

  • Garret Whitlock (5-3) was charged with the unearned run in the 11th.

The win keeps Baltimore’s momentum alive as they continue to chase positioning in the AL standings, while Boston is left to rue missed opportunities at the plate.
