Pakistan and China to Launch Joint Training Initiatives Under CPEC

Pakistan and China to Launch Joint Training Programs in Key Sectors Under CPEC Phase 2

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have agreed to introduce collaborative training programs in high-demand sectors such as construction engineering, artificial intelligence, agriculture, and hospitality management as part of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

This significant step is aimed at enhancing workforce development and strengthening bilateral cooperation in technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

Strengthening Global Skill Recognition

In parallel, Pakistan is working to establish mutual recognition of skills and vocational certifications with countries like Saudi Arabia and Oman, expanding international opportunities for skilled Pakistani professionals.

Key Outcomes from Official China Visit

These developments were announced following the recent visit of Gulmina Bilal Ahmad, Chairperson of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), to China from July 6 to 12.

During a media briefing at NAVTTC Headquarters, she highlighted the visit’s core objectives, which focused on enhancing cooperation in TVET between the two countries.

The initiative is being led under the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with strategic guidance from Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, and Federal Education Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

Focused Collaboration Through CPTICE

The trip was organized under the framework of the China-Pakistan TVET-Industrial Centre of Excellence (CPTICE), a joint platform facilitating industrial and educational partnerships between both nations.

During their visit, the Pakistani delegation engaged in policy discussions at the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing and met with leaders from the TANG International Education Group, which serves as the Chinese Secretariat of CPTICE.

A joint working session was also held with Li Jinsong, the Chinese Chairperson of CPTICE, to review ongoing projects and future collaborative plans.

Looking Ahead

These joint training initiatives aim to not only elevate the skills of Pakistani youth but also align workforce training with global industry standards—preparing workers for local and international employment opportunities.

With the second phase of CPEC gaining momentum, these efforts are expected to play a critical role in shaping Pakistan’s economic and human resource development strategy.
