Alex Khan Appointed Head Coach of Pakistan’s U-18 Baseball Team

The Baseball Federation of Pakistan (BFP) has officially named Alex Khan as the new head coach of the national U-18 baseball team. The announcement was confirmed by BFP officials on Tuesday.

Experienced International Player Takes Coaching Role

Alex Khan, a US-born Pakistani international, has a strong background as both an infielder and pitcher for Pakistan’s senior team. He represented Pakistan at the 2022 World Baseball Classic and is set to compete in this year’s Asian Championship.

BFP President Fakhar Shah highlighted Khan’s expertise working with young players as a key reason for his appointment.

“We’re excited to welcome Alex Khan as head coach of the Pakistan U-18 team ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. His coaching experience ranges from youth baseball to summer collegiate levels, and we believe he will help raise our game on the international stage,” said Shah.

Preparing for 2026 U-18 Baseball World Cup Qualifiers

Under Khan’s leadership, the team will gear up for the 2026 U-18 Baseball World Cup qualifiers scheduled for next year. Due to limited baseball infrastructure in Pakistan, the BFP plans to conduct an intensive training camp in the United States.

Fifteen promising players will be selected to join the camp and kick-start their preparations, reflecting the federation’s commitment to developing youth talent and gaining valuable international experience.

Building a Strong Future for Pakistani Baseball

Federation President Fakhar Shah emphasized that Khan’s appointment is part of a wider strategy to grow youth baseball in Pakistan and create a competitive foundation for the future.

“Alex’s deep understanding of baseball, both as a player and a coach, will be invaluable for nurturing our young athletes,” Shah added.

A graduate of the West Virginia Mountaineers program, Khan is known for his energetic coaching style and technical expertise. He is expected to begin working with the squad later this year as Pakistan aims to strengthen its presence in Asian baseball competitions.
