Pakistan Clinches Quarter-Final Spot in Asian Volleyball Championship After Thrilling Win Over Chinese Taipei

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s national volleyball team has advanced to the quarter-finals of the Asian Volleyball Federation (AVC) Challenge Cup after a dramatic five-set victory over Chinese Taipei in Manama, Bahrain, on Thursday.

The Pool β€˜C’ clash proved to be one of the most exciting matches of the tournament so far, showcasing fast-paced rallies, remarkable comebacks, and standout performances from both teams.

Strong Start, Intense Finish

Pakistan got off to a confident start, winning the first two sets 25-20 and 25-22, dominating early play with precision and composure. However, Chinese Taipei mounted a strong comeback, claiming the third and fourth sets 25-21 and 25-16, leveling the match at 2-2 and forcing a deciding set.

In a nerve-wracking fifth set, Pakistan held their composure and edged past their opponents 18-16, sealing a memorable 3-2 victory and securing the top spot in Pool β€˜C’.

Key Performers Lead the Way

  • Murad Khan emerged as a crucial attacker, delivering consistently under pressure and playing a vital role throughout the match.

  • Murad Jehan impressed with his exceptional defensive display, particularly in the tense fifth set.

  • Musawer Khan continued his fine form, contributing in attack and from the service line.

  • Usman Faryad Ali provided strong blocking at the net, helping limit Chinese Taipei’s attacking options.

  • Fahad Raza added value in transitions and team coordination, ensuring smooth execution during high-pressure moments.

What’s Next for Team Pakistan?

With this win, Pakistan not only advances to the quarter-finals but also finishes at the top of Pool β€˜C’. They will next face the runner-up from Pool β€˜A’, which will be either host nation Bahrain or Indonesia, depending on final standings.

The Pakistan Volleyball Federation is expected to confirm the date and time of the quarter-final fixture once all group stage matches conclude.
