Pakistan, Palestine Sign MoU to Boost Health Sector Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the State of Palestine have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the health sector, the Ministry of National Health Services confirmed on Wednesday.

The agreement was signed by Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal on behalf of Pakistan and Ambassador of Palestine Dr. Zuhair Dar Zaid. Senior officials, including Health Secretary Hamid Yaqoob, were also present at the ceremony.

Minister Kamal said the initiative is aimed at strengthening brotherly ties between the two nations by working together to improve healthcare facilities.

Key Points of Cooperation

  • Establishment of a Pakistan-Palestine Health Working Group within 30 days.

  • Collaboration in advanced medical fields such as cardiology, organ transplantation, orthopedic surgery, burn and plastic surgery, and endoscopic ultrasound.

  • Joint initiatives in infectious diseases, ophthalmology, and pharmaceuticals.

  • Promotion of collaborative research opportunities.

Minister Kamal reaffirmed Pakistan’s support, stating: “The hearts of the people of Pakistan beat with Palestine, and we are ready to assist in every possible way.”

The Palestinian ambassador thanked Pakistan for its continued support, emphasizing that both countries share brotherly relations and will work together for the well-being of their people.
