Pakistan Auto Industry Hits Highest Monthly Sales in Nearly Three Years
Pakistan’s auto industry saw a major boost in June 2025, recording its highest monthly passenger car sales in almost three years. According to data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) and Topline Research, June car sales jumped 43% year-on-year (YoY) to 21,773 units.
Strong Demand Ahead of GST Increase
The 47% month-on-month (MoM) surge was largely driven by a rush to buy before the General Sales Tax (GST) hike from 12.5% to 18%, effective July 1, 2025. Pak Suzuki’s Alto led the charge with its best sales performance in over three years.
Improving economic conditions — including stable macro indicators, falling interest rates, easing inflation, and rising consumer confidence — further fueled the growth. Total passenger car sales for the fiscal year 2024-25 reached 148,023 units, a solid 43% rise over the previous year.
