Pakistan Slip in ICC ODI Rankings After West Indies Defeat

Pakistan’s latest ODI clash in the Caribbean has brought more than just a disappointing result—it’s also impacted their ICC ODI rankings. According to the updated standings released by the International Cricket Council on Monday, Pakistan have dropped to fifth place, with Sri Lanka moving up to fourth.

The shift comes after Pakistan, led by Mohammad Rizwan, suffered a five-wicket loss to the West Indies in a rain-affected second ODI at Tarouba on Sunday. The defeat has levelled the three-match series at 1-1, leaving the final game as the series decider.

Sri Lanka now have 4,009 points, overtaking Pakistan’s 3,465 points. Meanwhile, the West Indies have also benefited from the victory, climbing to ninth place in the rankings as they push for direct qualification to the 2027 ODI World Cup.

The series finale between Pakistan and the West Indies is scheduled for tomorrow, with both teams aiming for a morale-boosting win.

At the top of the table, India remain the dominant force, followed by New Zealand and Australia. South Africa, Afghanistan, and England are still in contention for the crucial automatic qualification spots.

1️⃣ India – 36 matches – 4,471 points – Rating 124
