UN Security Council Holds Emergency Session as Tensions Escalate Between Israel and Iran

The United Nations Security Council convened an emergency session on Friday following a series of military strikes by Israel on various locations in Iran. According to reports, the strikes targeted nuclear facilities, missile production sites, and military personnel.

Citing the Associated Press of Pakistan, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, expressed deep concern over the developments, describing the military action as a serious threat to regional peace and stability. He reiterated Pakistan’s support for a peaceful resolution and expressed solidarity with the people and government of Iran.

Iranian officials reported significant casualties and damage. According to Iran’s ambassador to the UN, the first wave of strikes resulted in 78 deaths and over 300 injuries. Iranian media outlets reported explosions at key sites, including the Natanz uranium enrichment facility. Reports also indicated the loss of several military personnel, including senior figures.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the strikes were part of a broader campaign aimed at preventing the development of nuclear weapons in the region.

The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, with growing calls for restraint and diplomatic engagement to avoid further escalation.
