Iftikhar Ahmed Joins Guyana Amazon Warriors for CPL 2025
Veteran Pakistani all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed is set to bring his power-hitting prowess to the Caribbean as he joins the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the upcoming 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season, kicking off on August 15 (PST).
This marks Iftikhar’s debut appearance in the CPL, adding yet another international venue to his impressive T20 resume. He will be stepping in as a replacement for Hassan Khan, who is unavailable for the Warriors’ first three matches.
Despite being new to Caribbean franchise cricket, Iftikhar is a seasoned T20 campaigner. In the Pakistan Super League (PSL), he has scored over 1,100 runs, including five fifties, and has taken 13 wickets. His most impressive performances, however, have come in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), where he averages 50 with the bat and boasts a strike rate of 136.95, including a remarkable century.
The CPL 2025 season sees strong Pakistani representation across multiple franchises.
-
Naseem Shah returns to St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, having played a key role in their 2021 title win.
-
Mohammad Amir and Usman Tariq join the Trinbago Knight Riders.
-
Mohammad Nawaz also joins the Patriots.
-
Imad Wasim will once again represent the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, having been retained by the franchise.
For Iftikhar, this short CPL stint is more than just a new adventure—it’s an opportunity to showcase his skills in Caribbean conditions, build CPL credentials, and potentially strengthen his case for a national team comeback.
As the CPL returns with its signature excitement and flair, cricket fans around the world will be closely watching how Iftikhar and his fellow Pakistan stars perform on one of T20 cricket’s most dynamic stages.
