Tarbela Dam Reaches Full Capacity, Spillways Open Amid Heavy Rainfall

HARIPUR: Tarbela Dam has reached its full storage capacity, forcing authorities to open its spillways to manage excess water. Recent heavy rainfall in the upper Haripur region has significantly increased inflows, prompting the dam administration to begin controlled releases at 6 p.m. on Monday. Current discharge has surged to 250,000 cusecs, officials confirmed.


Safety Advisories Issued

The Haripur district administration has issued strict safety warnings, urging residents to avoid riverbanks, bridges, and water channels to ensure safety. Deputy Commissioner Haripur stressed that the situation remains critical and advised citizens to follow all precautionary measures.

Rescue teams and local authorities are on high alert and fully prepared to respond to any emergencies.

Officials have also called on locals to stay vigilant, maintain distance from flowing water, and adopt safety precautions as the dam continues to manage the rising water levels.
