Sindh Government Abolishes Parking Fees on All Roads Across Karachi
In a major relief for commuters, the Sindh government has officially abolished roadside parking fees across all 25 towns of Karachi, aiming to ease the financial burden on citizens and crack down on unauthorized collections.
📜 Official Notification Ends Roadside Parking Charges
According to a formal notification issued by the Local Government Department, parking charges will no longer be collected on any public road throughout the city. Parking fees will now only apply to designated spaces, such as official plazas, council-owned plots, or pre-approved commercial lots.
All Town Municipal Corporations (TMCs) have been directed to immediately halt fee collection on streets and ensure strict implementation of the new policy.
🏛️ CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah Leads the Initiative
This decisive step follows directives from Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, who has instructed local authorities to eliminate illegal parking fee practices. The move builds on earlier enforcement against unauthorized parking charges on Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) roads, and now extends to all town-level areas as well.
🚫 Strict Action Against Illegal Parking Fee Collectors
The notification clearly states that only the KMC has the authority to charge for parking—and even then, only in officially designated areas. Any unauthorized individual or organization collecting roadside parking charges will face legal action.
🗣️ Mayor Murtaza Wahab: “Public Interest is Our Priority”
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab welcomed the development, emphasizing that the decision was made in the public’s best interest. He confirmed that no municipal body or private contractor is now allowed to charge citizens for roadside parking in any town of Karachi.
Municipal Commissioners have been instructed to monitor compliance and ensure that violators are penalized under the law.
