PCB Probes Team Management in Wake of Haider Ali Allegations

(Sports Correspondent: Imran Sohail)
Pakistan High Commission Reportedly Mediates in Haider Ali Case

The Pakistan High Commission in London has reportedly been involved in facilitating an out-of-court settlement between cricketer Haider Ali and a British-Pakistani woman, following allegations of misconduct. The development has once again sparked conversations about player discipline and professionalism in Pakistan cricket.

According to media reports, the 24-year-old cricketer was taken into custody in Canterbury last week while representing Pakistan Shaheens, after an incident alleged to have taken place on July 23 in Manchester. The matter has also brought team management under review, with head coach Imran Farhat and captain Saud Shakeel reportedly facing scrutiny from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding player oversight during the tour.

Beyond the legal proceedings, the case has renewed discussion on how young cricketing talent in Pakistan is managed and mentored. Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal highlighted the importance of structured guidance for players.

β€œOther countries focus on grooming their athletes to maintain discipline on and off the field. Our cricket system must also prioritize this approach to help players succeed internationally,” Akmal said.

He suggested that the PCB introduce educational programs at the National Cricket Academy covering topics such as doping regulations, match-fixing prevention, and professional conduct.

β€œThese players represent Pakistan on the global stage. It’s vital they uphold the values and reputation of the sport,” he added.

As the case in England progresses, the PCB faces the challenge of managing the current situation while also taking steps to ensure future players receive the training and support needed to stay on the right track.
