PCB Turns Down Bangladesh’s Offer for December Tri-Nation Series

 Nov 12, 2025

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially declined an offer from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to participate in a T20I tri-nation series scheduled for December 2025.

According to reports, the BCB proposed a three-team tournament involving Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka to be played in Dhaka. However, PCB sources told Geo News that the board has opted out due to scheduling conflicts and player workload concerns.

A Packed Schedule for Pakistani Players

December is already a hectic month for Pakistan’s cricketers. Star players like Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi are set to feature in the Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia, leaving little room for additional commitments.

PCB officials highlighted that organizing another series during this period would put unnecessary strain on players who have been part of a tight international and domestic schedule throughout the year.

Earlier in 2025, Pakistan hosted South Africa for a full tour, is currently playing Sri Lanka in ODIs, and will face Zimbabwe later this month in another tri-nation series.

Future Plans Ahead of T20 World Cup

Following the BBL, Pakistan is scheduled to host Australia for a T20I series, which may even turn into a tri-nation competition as part of the team’s final preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Managing Player Workload

With player fitness and workload management becoming a top priority, PCB’s decision reflects a strategic approach to balancing international commitments with player well-being.

Pakistan and Bangladesh have already faced each other in two bilateral series and the Asia Cup this year. Given the packed international calendar, the PCB seems determined to prioritize rest and recovery over adding another overseas tournament.
