Phantom Ferrari F1 Car” Driver Arrested in Czech Republic After Years-Long Search
The driver of a so-called “phantom Ferrari F1 car” has been arrested in the Czech Republic following a years-long investigation.
The unusual case first captured attention in 2019, when social media footage showed a driver cruising on a motorway in what appeared to be a Ferrari F1 car. On Sunday, the vehicle resurfaced on public roads, drawing the attention of passersby who alerted the police after the car stopped at a petrol station.
Authorities traced the vehicle to Buk, a small town southwest of Prague, and arrested a 51-year-old man. According to the Czech Police, the man refused to comment, but the case will move to an administrative proceeding, where he could face a fine of several thousand euros and a driving ban.
Despite its appearance, the car is not a genuine Ferrari F1 machine. Officials confirmed it is likely a GP2 car built by Dallara, customized with a unique livery unlike any Ferrari F1 has ever carried.
The bizarre incident has reignited online fascination, with many comparing it to a real-life racing movie scenario and raising questions about high-speed vehicles on public roads.
