PIA to Expand Gwadar Operations

In a major step towards strengthening Gwadar’s connectivity, two additional Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights have been restored to the port city, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry.

The new Karachi–Gwadar flights are scheduled to commence from the first week of August, the minister confirmed on Thursday.

Chaudhry highlighted that enhanced air links are vital for supporting commercial activity in Gwadar, noting that the increase from just one existing flight marks an important advancement.

He described the move as part of the Prime Minister’s business-friendly vision, emphasizing that improved air access will play a pivotal role in the Gwadar Free Zones, stimulating investment, trade, and economic stability.

The minister further stated that facilitating the business community, port staff, and the logistics sector is a top government priority. He underscored that robust air connectivity is crucial for the timely execution of China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

Calling the expansion of flights a “new chapter” in Gwadar’s development, Chaudhry said the initiative will pave the way for sustainable economic growth in the region.
