PM Shehbaz Sharif Announces 100,000 Free Laptops for Meritorious Students Across Pakistan
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday unveiled a major initiative to distribute 100,000 free laptops to high-achieving and deserving students across Pakistan, with selection based strictly on merit.
Speaking in Islamabad on International Youth Day, the Prime Minister highlighted that the program aims to reward academic excellence while ensuring full transparency in the allocation process. The laptop distribution will cover all four provinces, as well as Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
PM Shehbaz also praised Pakistan’s victory on May 10 during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, calling it a source of national pride. He encouraged young people to channel this energy into excelling academically and professionally.
Reaffirming his government’s focus on youth empowerment through education and technology, the Prime Minister said the future of Pakistan rests in the hands of its youth.
Rana Mashhood Khan, Chairman of the PM Youth Programme, recalled that the country’s first youth policy was introduced in 2011, which provided laptops, scholarships, and soft loans to talented students. He noted that the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) has since evolved into the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund, benefiting students nationwide.
Recently, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif opened the next phase of the Honhaar Scholarship Programme, inviting students to apply. She emphasized the importance of supporting young minds, saying, “Your dreams are the heartbeat of Punjab’s future.”
Through this initiative, 50,000 scholarships have already been awarded, with 30,000 more underway, providing vital support to students across the province.
