Private Pakistani Airline Gets Approval for Direct Flights to UK

Airblue Gets Approval to Launch Flights Between Pakistan and the UK

Private airline Airblue has secured approval from the United Kingdom’s Department for Transport (DfT) to operate flights between Pakistan and the UK, aviation sources confirmed on Wednesday.

The certification, known as the Third Country Operator (TCO) license, officially authorizes Airblue to start direct services to British destinations. With this approval, Airblue becomes the only private Pakistani airline currently permitted to operate flights connecting the two countries.

According to aviation officials, the airline plans to use its Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft on the route. Flights are expected to make refueling stops in Türkiye before continuing to the UK.

This move is seen as a major development for travelers, especially the 1.6 million people of Pakistani origin living in Britain, who will now have more options and flexibility when flying between the two nations.

Airblue’s entry into the UK market is also expected to enhance competition in the aviation sector, offering passengers more affordable choices and improved connectivity.
