Puerto Rico Announces 20-Player Roster for WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2025

Puerto Rico’s manager Eddie Gonzalez has revealed the 20-player squad set to compete at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2025, presented by RAXUS.

“We focused on selecting players versatile enough to cover multiple positions, along with pitchers who can both start games and work out of the bullpen,” said Gonzalez. “Competing at this level requires having as many options as possible.”

Although permission was not granted for all desired players from colleges and professional teams, Gonzalez expressed confidence in the roster’s ability to represent Puerto Rico with pride in Japan.

The roster features nine pitchers, two catchers, six infielders, and three outfielders. The coaching staff includes bench coach Edgar Perez, pitching coach Josue Montañez, third-base coach Dennis Perez, first-base coach Jeffrey Dominguez, assistant coach Elvin Gonzalez, and bullpen catcher Jozem Reyes.

Puerto Rico, ranked No. 7 in the world, finished fifth in their debut at the 2023 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup. In the upcoming tournament, they will compete in Group A alongside No. 12 Cuba, No. 14 Italy, No. 1 and defending champions Japan, No. 4 Korea, and No. 26 South Africa.

Group B features strong teams including No. 3 USA, No. 10 Australia, No. 19 China, No. 18 Germany, No. 9 Panama, and No. 2 Chinese Taipei.
