Punjab Announces Two New Major Public Transport Projects
November 7, 2025
Punjab’s Minister for Information and Culture, Azma Bokhari, has announced that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is continuing to deliver on her promises through a series of major development projects aimed at improving connectivity, transport, and public welfare across the province.
Expansion of Public Transport Network
Speaking to the media, Bokhari revealed that following the success of the Metro Bus and Orange Line Train systems, the provincial government is now planning to introduce tram services and a high-speed train project in key cities.
She said these initiatives will enhance urban mobility and reduce travel time for citizens, marking another milestone in Punjab’s modern transport infrastructure.
New Air and Relief Initiatives
Bokhari further shared that Punjab Air Company has been established to manage the province’s new Air Ambulance Service, designed to provide timely emergency assistance and improve access to critical care across remote areas.
In addition, she highlighted that development projects are being implemented across the province without discrimination, extending from Attock to Rahim Yar Khan and Lahore to Sadiqabad.
Support for Farmers and Citizens
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to social welfare, noting that the Rs. 100 billion relief package for flood-affected citizens is being distributed on a daily basis.
Meanwhile, the “Kissan Card” program continues to support farmers by providing direct financial assistance. Under its second phase, farmers have already received over Rs. 100 billion in aid.
Affordable Housing for Families
Bokhari also discussed the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” housing initiative, under which 110,000 homes are being constructed for low-income families across Punjab.
According to the minister, an average of 290 new houses are being completed each day, ensuring thousands of families gain access to affordable housing.
Key Takeaway
Punjab’s latest development push — featuring new transport systems, air services, and welfare programs — underscores the government’s broader vision for inclusive growth and modern infrastructure throughout the province.
