Punjab Approves Rs. 9.3 Billion Development Projects to Improve Skills, Safety, and Services
The Punjab Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has given the green light to five new development projects worth Rs. 9.3 billion, aimed at boosting skill development, governance, and citizen services.
The approvals were made during the 26th PDWP meeting, chaired by Planning and Development Board Chairman Dr. Naeem Rauf.
One of the key initiatives includes Rs. 2.5 billion for expanding construction and hospitality labs under TEVTA to strengthen vocational training opportunities. Another Rs. 5.8 billion has been allocated for the revamping and upgrading of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s PPIC3 project in Lahore, enhancing urban security and surveillance.
The PDWP also approved the establishment of a Government College of Technology in Mandi Bahauddin at a cost of nearly Rs. 1 billion. In addition, projects were cleared to set up a resource and training center for Punjab Assembly members and a citizen-focused legal assistance system.
Another major decision was the endorsement of the second phase of the smart safe cities project, which will be rolled out in 19 districts across Punjab.
The meeting was attended by senior provincial officials, including the P&D Board Secretary, the Chief Economist, and representatives from departments overseeing skills and price control.
