Punjab Bans Mobile Phones in Govt and Private Schools and Colleges

Punjab Assembly Moves to Ban Mobile Phones in Schools

LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday approved a resolution seeking a ban on mobile phone use in all public and private educational institutions across the province, 24NewsHD reported.

The resolution, introduced by government lawmaker Rahila Khadim Hussain, highlighted the importance of protecting children’s mental and social development, noting that students are the nation’s future.

It warned that excessive use of mobile phones and social media is harming young minds and eroding moral values. Lawmakers urged the government to develop a comprehensive strategy to tackle this growing concern.

As a first step, the assembly recommended a complete prohibition of mobile phones for students in schools. The resolution also called for legislation to regulate children’s access to social media, emphasizing the need for strong policy measures to safeguard the next generation.
