Punjab Budget Reveals Major Increases for CM Office, Governor House, and Ministers’ Offices

Punjab Budget 2025–26 Sees Significant Increase in Government Office Funding

June 18, 2025 – Lahore:
The Punjab government’s budget for the fiscal year 2025–26, presented on June 17, has drawn attention for its notable increases in allocations to top government offices.

Major Budget Hikes for Key Offices

According to official documents, the Chief Minister’s Office will receive Rs. 1.46 billion, an increase of Rs. 230 million from last year.

Meanwhile, funding for the Governor House has seen a substantial jump—rising from Rs. 161 million to Rs. 1.537 billion. The budget for provincial ministers’ offices also saw a sharp increase of 204%, from Rs. 350 million to Rs. 1 billion.

Other Noteworthy Allocations

  • The Punjab Assembly’s budget has been raised by 47%, moving from Rs. 5.017 billion to Rs. 7.38 billion.

  • An additional Rs. 28.1 million has been allocated for 41 commissioner offices.

  • The Chief Minister’s Inspection Team received a 26% budget increase, now set at Rs. 212.4 million.

These increases are part of Punjab’s Rs. 5 trillion-plus total provincial budget.

Focus on Salaries and Infrastructure

The 2025–26 budget also includes a 10% salary increase for government employees, indicating a broader focus on administrative efficiency and staff welfare. While infrastructure and transport received sizable funding, the rise in administrative spending has sparked debate on how public funds are being prioritized.

Conclusion

As Punjab moves forward with an ambitious financial plan, the significant increase in administrative budgets is likely to remain a talking point. With both development and operational expenditures on the rise, public discourse will be key in shaping future policies.
