Punjab Education Department Moves to Digitize Student Records After Data Irregularities
Apr 13, 2026
The Punjab Education Department has identified discrepancies in the records of nearly 1.7 million students enrolled in public schools across the province, including missing or incorrect B-Form numbers.
Action Taken for Data Correction
Following the findings, the department has directed a province-wide initiative to digitize student records and ensure accurate data entry in the School Information System.
Schools have been instructed to update verified B-Form details to improve the accuracy and reliability of student records.
Introduction of Unique Student IDs
Officials also confirmed that the process of assigning a Unique Student ID to every student is being accelerated. This step is aimed at improving transparency, data management, and tracking within the education system.
Instructions to School Authorities
District Education Authorities have been asked to take immediate corrective measures. School heads are responsible for verifying B-Forms before updating student information in official records.
Deadline Set for Completion
The department has set April 30, 2026, as the deadline to complete the data correction process, including the registration of students whose B-Form details were previously missing.
Goal of the Initiative
Officials say the digital transformation effort is intended to strengthen education governance, reduce errors in student records, and improve overall administrative efficiency in the province.
