Punjab Education Minister Issues Stern Warning to Underperforming Teachers After Matric Results

LAHORE – Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has delivered a clear message to schoolteachers across the province following the announcement of the 2025 matriculation exam results.

In a recent Facebook post, the minister commended educators who consistently help their students achieve outstanding academic results, assuring them that rewards and recognition are on the way. However, he also issued a firm warning to underperforming teachers, especially those with a track record of repeated student failures, urging them to take their roles more seriously.

“Those teachers whose students fail year after year should start worrying,” the minister stated.


Matric Exam 2025: Key Statistics

The statement comes shortly after the Punjab education boards released the results for the first annual matric examinations of 2025.

According to figures from the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore, the overall pass percentage stood at 65.32%. Out of 254,012 students who appeared in the exams, 165,912 successfully passed, highlighting the need for improved academic performance in several institutions.


Education Sector Reforms Underway

This development reflects the Punjab government’s ongoing efforts to raise educational standards and hold educators accountable. The education department is expected to roll out further teacher evaluation and performance-based incentives in the coming months.
