Pakistan Railways to Launch New Train Service for Islamabad–Rawalpindi Commuters
Pakistan Railways has announced a new train service between Islamabad and Rawalpindi aimed at making travel easier and more convenient for daily passengers.
The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting at the Railways Headquarters in Lahore, chaired by Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also took part in the session.
🚆 Improved Travel & Passenger Safety
During the meeting, officials briefed the ministers on the overall security of railway operations, with a special focus on Balochistan. They discussed measures to protect railway tracks and ensure passenger safety.
A joint anti-encroachment campaign was also approved, in which the Railways Police and National Constabulary will work together. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi assured that the Frontier Constabulary will provide full support for these efforts.
He emphasized that “the safety of railway lines and passengers is the government’s top priority and no compromise will be made in this regard.” Naqvi also praised Pakistan Railways for its recent steps to enhance services.
🚨 Encroachment Drive & Cooperation
Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi thanked the Interior Minister for his cooperation, especially for backing the anti-encroachment operations on railway land.
The meeting was attended by CEO Pakistan Railways Amir Ali Baloch, IG Railways Police Rai Tahir, and other senior officials.
This new train service is expected to bring much-needed relief to daily commuters in the twin cities, offering them a safe, quick, and affordable travel option.
