Fabian Ruiz Fires PSG to Victory Over Angers in Ligue 1
Paris Saint-Germain continued their strong start to the new Ligue 1 season with a 1-0 win against Angers on Friday evening at the Parc des Princes.
Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz scored the decisive goal just five minutes into the second half, calmly finishing inside the box after a good attacking move. The result means PSG have now collected two wins from their first two league games.
The match also saw a missed opportunity for Ousmane Dembélé, who sent a first-half penalty over the bar after Joao Neves was brought down in the area. Despite dominating possession, PSG’s finishing touch was not at its sharpest.
It was still a night of celebration for the French champions. At full-time, the club proudly displayed the five trophies they have already lifted in 2025 – including the Champions League, Ligue 1 title, French Cup, Champions Trophy, and UEFA Super Cup.
Manager Luis Enrique made several changes to the line-up, handing a home debut to goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, recently signed from Lille. Desire Doué, playing against his hometown club, impressed with his creativity and was involved in the build-up to Ruiz’s winning goal.
Angers, who defeated Paris FC on the opening weekend, struggled to create clear chances and rarely threatened PSG’s defence.
Looking ahead, Ligue 1 action continues on Saturday with Marseille hosting Paris FC, while Nice meet Auxerre and Lyon take on Metz in other fixtures.
