Sarfaraz Ahmed Supports Pakistan’s Squad for Tri-Nation Series and Asia Cup 2025

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has expressed full support for the 17-member squad selected for the upcoming Tri-Nation series against Afghanistan and UAE in Sharjah, as well as the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE.

Speaking at a private event in Karachi, Sarfaraz praised the selectors for announcing a “balanced and timely” squad, highlighting its potential to perform well in both tournaments. He specifically singled out opener Fakhar Zaman, calling him a key player in Pakistan’s batting lineup.

“Fakhar Zaman is the backbone of Pakistan’s batting. Whenever the team has needed him, he has stepped up and delivered,” Sarfaraz said.

Sarfaraz further noted that the UAE conditions would be beneficial for Pakistan, offering the new squad an ideal opportunity to settle in and make a strong impact.

The former captain also appreciated the selection of younger players like Salman Mirza, Sahibzada Farhan, and Hasan Nawaz, expressing confidence that they would rise to the occasion and contribute effectively.

With Pakistan placed alongside India, Oman, and the UAE in the Asia Cup 2025, Sarfaraz believes the team has what it takes to qualify comfortably and challenge for the title.

Describing the squad as one “beginning to take shape,” he emphasized the blend of youth and experience and is optimistic about the team’s ability to perform in the UAE conditions.

Pakistan will kick off their campaign on August 29 against Afghanistan in the Tri-Nation series, followed by their Asia Cup opener against Oman on September 12, and a high-profile clash against India on September 14.
