Rick Macci Predicts Williams Sisters Could Team Up for US Open Doubles

Rick Macci, the childhood coach of Serena and Venus Williams, has made a bold prediction that the legendary sisters may reunite to play doubles at the upcoming US Open.

After a 16-month break and major surgery last year, Venus Williams returned to the court in late July at the Washington Open, competing in both singles and doubles. The 45-year-old also received a wildcard entry at the ongoing Cincinnati Open, where she faced a first-round exit against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.

Meanwhile, Serena Williams has been away from professional tennis since the 2022 US Open.

Macci shared his thoughts on X, saying, “My gut is that Serena will likely play doubles with Venus at the US Open. Serena’s serve remains one of the best in the game, and her competitive mindset is as strong as ever.”

Venus herself hinted at a possible comeback during her Washington Open press conference, expressing that having Serena by her side on court would make her happier. She also suggested that Serena wouldn’t need much time to regain her fitness and form if she decided to return.

Together, the Williams sisters have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles, including two US Open victories in 1999 and 2009, making their potential reunion an exciting prospect for tennis fans worldwide.
