Punjab to Launch 100 New Electric Buses for Underserved Districts

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced that a fresh fleet of 100 electric buses is ready to depart from Yantai Port, China, and will set sail tonight.

These state-of-the-art buses are headed to several districts that previously lacked formal public transport, including Mianwali, Okara, Nankana Sahib, Muzaffargarh, Vehari, Pakpattan, and Dera Ghazi Khan.

According to the chief minister, the fare will be an affordable Rs. 20, making this service accessible to all.

The modern, eco-friendly buses will feature air-conditioning, free WiFi, a fully automated ticketing system, and wheelchair accessibility for passengers with disabilities. Designed with safety and comfort in mind, the service aims to provide a reliable and secure travel experience for citizens across Punjab.

This initiative marks another step toward improving public transport and promoting sustainable, environment-friendly travel in the province.
