SNGPL Reduces Gas Supply Duration Amid Ongoing Shortage
Apr 13, 2026
Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has adjusted its gas supply schedule to manage the ongoing shortage affecting households across the country.
Under the revised plan, domestic consumers will receive gas for a total of approximately six hours daily, divided into two main time slots—primarily during breakfast and dinner hours. Supply will remain suspended during the afternoon due to low system pressure.
Officials stated that the decision was taken to ensure gas availability during peak usage periods. They added that the worsening supply gap has made it difficult to maintain continuous gas distribution throughout the day.
Sources within the system further indicated that even maintaining stable pressure during the allocated time slots has become increasingly challenging due to constraints in the network.
The disruption has been largely linked to issues in liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports, which have affected the overall stability of the supply system.
Authorities have advised consumers to use gas judiciously and avoid unnecessary consumption to help manage the limited availability during this period.
