Dongfeng Unveils Aeolus L8 Plug-In Hybrid with 355 HP and 248 km Electric Range
China: Dongfeng has officially launched the Aeolus L8, a new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powered by the company’s Mach Electric Hybrid system. The setup combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, an electric motor, and a 30.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, producing a total output of 355 horsepower.
Impressive Range and Performance
The Aeolus L8 offers two all-electric ranges under CLTC standards: 126 km and 185 km, depending on the model. Independent tests by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) showed the vehicle can travel up to 248 km on electric power alone, with a total range of 2,245 km, making it one of the longest-range plug-in hybrids currently available.
Charging and Efficiency
Fuel efficiency tests by CATARC recorded 41.66 km per liter. The Aeolus L8 supports 3C fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in just 18 minutes under ideal conditions.
Advanced Safety and Technology
The vehicle comes with 28 Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features, including:
-
Adaptive Cruise Control
-
Lane Keeping Assist
-
Automatic Emergency Braking
-
Traffic Sign Recognition
-
Parking Assistance
Safety equipment includes six airbags and a digital rearview mirror, while the cabin features a digital interface with AI-powered voice assistant, developed with DeepSeek and ByteDance’s Doubao.
