Toronto FC Signs Midfielder Djordje Mihailovic in $8 Million Deal with Colorado Rapids
TORONTO : In a major move ahead of the transfer window deadline, Toronto FC has officially signed attacking midfielder Djordje Mihailovic from the Colorado Rapids in a deal valued at $8 million, both clubs announced on Thursday.
The agreement includes an additional $1 million in performance-based incentives, potentially making this one of the most significant intra-league transfers in recent MLS history.
Multi-Year Deal and Designated Player Role
Mihailovic, 26, has agreed to a three-year contract, keeping him at Toronto FC through 2028, with an option to extend for the 2029 season. He will also occupy a Designated Player (DP) spot on the roster — a role reserved for high-impact signings.
“When I first joined the league, Toronto was a powerhouse. I know the history and potential of this club and where it can go,” Mihailovic said in a club statement, expressing excitement about the next chapter of his career.
