Multan Police Arrest Boatmen for Overcharging Flood Victims; Rescue and Crime Updates
Bahawalpur / Multan: The Multan police have arrested two private boatmen for overcharging flood-affected residents during evacuations in the Khan Bela area of Jalalpur Pirwala.
Videos circulating on social media and television broadcasts showed flood victims protesting against the inflated charges, with some reports claiming boatmen demanded Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 500,000 to transport the body of a deceased flood victim.
Police Action
Following complaints from residents, SSP Multan Dr. Khadeja Umar took immediate action, arresting Allah Wasya and Majid and seizing their boats to prevent further exploitation.

The CCD team in Multan arrested an injured robbery suspect, Salim, involved in over 50 criminal cases, after an encounter near Sawanwali Pul. During the incident, Salim’s accomplice fired at the CCD team and escaped, while Salim was injured and taken into custody.

Tragic Drowning Incident
In Lodhran, a teenage boy, Abdul Rehman (14), drowned in accumulated floodwater in the fields of Adam Wahan on Munshiwala Road. Rescue 1122 retrieved his body after three hours and handed it over to his family.
Health Workers Reinstated
In Multan, the Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench dismissed the District Health Authority’s intra-court appeal, upholding the reinstatement of 700 sacked or temporary health employees. The court directed their regularization, following an earlier single-bench decision.
