Pakistan Football Federation Strengthens Youth Football and Futsal with Key Coaching Appointments
The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) is advancing its commitment to developing youth football and futsal by confirming two important coaching appointments.
Veteran coach Nasir Ismail, holder of the AFC “A” License, has been named head coach of the Pakistan U-17 national team. Ismail will lead the squad at the upcoming SAFF U-17 Championship 2025 in Colombo, Sri Lanka this September. Known for his focus on tactical discipline and player development, Ismail’s goal is to prepare the young Green Shirts for tough competition in Group B, which includes India, Bhutan, and the Maldives.
In another significant move, Sakhawat Ali has been appointed as head coach of Pakistan’s national futsal team. He will guide the team during the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Qualifiers, marking Pakistan’s debut in the tournament. Futsal continues to grow in popularity across the country, and Ali’s leadership reflects the PFF’s ambition to make a strong impact on the continental stage. Pakistan has been drawn in Group D alongside Iraq, Chinese Taipei, and hosts Saudi Arabia. The qualifiers take place from September 20 to 24.
Both appointments, approved by the PFF Executive Committee, underline the federation’s focus on building a robust talent pipeline across football’s different formats. Officials are optimistic that this strategic approach will bring long-term benefits to Pakistan’s football future.
