Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Pakistan From 22nd August
The Met Office has forecast strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, likely to affect northern and central Pakistan from 22nd August. A westerly wave is expected to approach the upper regions on the night of 22nd August, bringing widespread rainfall.
Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan:
Heavy rain and thunderstorms, with isolated very heavy falls, are expected in Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) and in Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar) from 23rd to 27th August.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:
Widespread rain and thunderstorms, with scattered heavy falls, are forecast in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan from 23rd to 26th August.
Punjab & Islamabad:
Rain and thunderstorms, with occasional very heavy falls, are expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, and Sahiwal from 23rd to 27th August. Scattered rain is likely in D.G. Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur, and Rahimyar Khan on 24th and 27th August.
Sindh:
Rain and thunderstorms are expected in Mithi, Tharparkar, Umer Kot, and Mirpurkhas from the evening of 23rd August to 26th August.
Balochistan:
Rainfall is likely in Barkhan, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibbi, Zhob, Kalat, and Khuzdar from the evening of 23rd August to 26th August.
