Abubakar/Nael, Aisam/Muzamil reach men’s doubles final at Sheheryar Malik Memorial Pakistan Open Tennis Championship

Exciting tennis action continued at the 9th Sheheryar Malik Memorial Pakistan Open Tennis Championship 2025, underway at the Sports Board Punjab Tennis Academy, Nishtar Park, Lahore.
In the men’s doubles semifinal stage, the pairing of Abubakar Talha and Ahmad Nael Qureshi delivered a clinical performance to defeat Barkat Ullah and Yousaf Khalil in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. In the second semifinal, Pakistan’s internation tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, partnering with Muzamil Murtaza, overcame the experienced duo of Aqeel Khan and Shehzad Khan 6-4, 7-5.
In the boys’ U-12 quarterfinals, M Shayan Afridi defeated M Faizan 4-2, 4-2, while M Ibraheem Hussain Gill overcame Ashtar Alam 5-4, 4-1. In the boys’ U-12 doubles, M Muaz and M Ayan representing Fatima Group emerged successful against Mamnoon Bari and Ehsan Bari, winning comfortably 4-1, 4-1. The girls’ U-12 quarterfinals saw Aiman Rehan defeating Shahreen Umer 4-1, 4-0, while Zaina Abdullah overcaming Shahnoor Umer 4-0, 4-1. In the boys/girls U-10 pre-quarterfinal round, Daniyal Abdullah routed M Ibrahim Faizan 6-0, Mustafa Zia outplayed Ibrahim Leghari 6-0, and Eman Shahbaz prevailed over Zahran Zeeshan 6-1.
In the seniors 55+ doubles semifinals, Khurram Imtiaz and Furqan-ud-Din defeated Gen Hilal and Sq Ldr Hasib Baig 6-2, 6-3. In the seniors 65+ category, Waqar Nisar and Inam-ul-Haq outclassed Dr Mushtaq Haroon and Mobin Malik 6-1, 6-4. Meanwhile, in the seniors 70+ doubles, Kh Khurram and Asad Niaz recorded a dominant 6-2, 6-0 win over Maj Saeed and Saeed Khan.
