PTV Secures Broadcast Rights for Asia Cup 2025, Ensuring Live Coverage Across Pakistan

Cricket fans in Pakistan can now breathe a sigh of relief as Pakistan Television (PTV) has officially secured the broadcast rights for the 2025 Asia Cup, ending months of uncertainty surrounding the tournament’s local telecast.

PTV to Air All ACC Events from 2025 to 2027

PTV’s successful bid grants the state broadcaster exclusive rights to all Asian Cricket Council (ACC) events from 2025 to 2027. The agreement includes:

  • Asia Cup 2025 & 2027 (Men’s)

  • Women’s Asia Cup 2026

  • ACC U19 and Emerging Asia Cup tournaments

This major acquisition ensures uninterrupted access to top-tier Asian cricket competitions for audiences across Pakistan for the next three years.

Long Negotiation Process Ends in Victory for Fans

The deal follows a challenging and prolonged negotiation with the Indian media group that holds pan-Asian rights through 2031 under a $170 million contract. Reports suggest that “exorbitant” pricing demands from the Indian side—compounded by political sensitivities and commercial uncertainty around potential Pakistan-India matches—had made the process especially difficult for Pakistani broadcasters.

Earlier speculation hinted at the possibility of a joint broadcasting consortium or, in a worst-case scenario, a complete blackout of the tournament in Pakistan. With advertising revenues shrinking and sponsorships harder to secure, no local broadcaster was able to meet the cost individually—until PTV stepped in.

Digital Rights Secured Separately

The digital streaming rights for ACC events had already been purchased by a Pakistan-based consortium earlier this year for approximately $4.3 million. However, it was the television rights deal that remained a critical missing piece—until now.

What This Means for Viewers

With the broadcast deal finalized, PTV is set to deliver live Asia Cup 2025 coverage to millions of households across the country. This move represents not just a win for cricket fans, but also a strategic success for PTV, reinforcing its relevance in a competitive and financially stressed broadcasting market.

Countdown to Asia’s Biggest Cricket Event Begins

As the countdown begins for the Asia Cup 2025, Pakistani viewers can now look forward to seamless access to all the action, from the group stages to high-voltage encounters—potentially including a blockbuster Pakistan vs India clash.
