Another Pakistani Airline Wants to Start UK Flights

Airblue Applies to Launch Direct Flights to the UK as Pakistan Airlines Await Green Light

Airblue, a leading private airline in Pakistan, has officially applied to the UK Civil Aviation Authority for permission to launch direct flights between Islamabad and Manchester, sources confirmed. The airline hopes to begin operations as early as August 2025, subject to regulatory approval.

✈️ Pakistan-UK Air Connectivity Set for Revival

The development follows the UK’s decision to lift a five-year ban on Pakistani airlines operating in British airspace. The air safety blacklist removal paves the way for both Airblue and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to resume operations to the UK.

PIA has also submitted its request to restart services and is reportedly preparing to operate three weekly flights to Manchester, using its Boeing 777 aircraft in the initial phase.

🛫 Positive Momentum for Pakistani Aviation

The decision has been welcomed by aviation stakeholders, travelers, and members of the Pakistani diaspora in the UK, who have long awaited the return of direct connectivity.

In a public statement, the British High Commission in Islamabad praised the collaborative efforts of aviation authorities from both countries. British High Commissioner Jane Marriott remarked, “I look forward to traveling with Pakistani airlines,” signaling renewed confidence in Pakistan’s aviation safety standards.

📍 What’s Next?

  • Airblue awaits UK CAA approval for its Islamabad–Manchester route

  • PIA is preparing aircraft and crews for its own route relaunch

  • Final decisions from UK authorities are expected soon

If approved, these flights would significantly improve travel options for passengers traveling between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, restoring a key corridor for business, tourism, and family visits.
